CLASSES
Creative Movement
Creative Dance brings together ballet, contemporary and improvisational dance along with the use of props, storytelling, and music to create an environment where dancers learn personal artistry and physical expression through their bodies. We make use of simple technical exercises and patterns along with imagery and games throughout this fun and introductory dance class.
Pop
Pop is a mix of contemporary and hip-hop dance set to fun, popular music. This class emphasizes the use of simple dance patterns and rhythmic movements to teach dancers how to be confident and creative with their bodies. Pop classes include introduction to choreography as well as dance games and improvisation.
Contemporary
Contemporary technique emphasizes athletic movement, full use of the body, expansive use of space, alignment, articulation of the joints and muscles, momentum, weight, and gesture. Contemporary’s expressive and athletic form is a healthy and enriching medium for dancers to find themselves and express who they are through their bodies. Each student is encouraged to move with their maximum range and expression. Contemporary classes are challenging, inspiring, and artistically engaging.
Ballet
Ballet technique at Verve emphasizes a body-positive, injury-free and supportive technique practiced through alignment, strength, flexibility, and focus. Students are guided to develop a solid base of technique of formalized ballet vocabulary and movement, informed by body awareness and joy. Ballet supports any dance form or athletic pursuit with its teaching of both flowing and precise movements.

Jazz
Jazz dance is a form of dance that combines both African and European dance styles. This high-energy dance has a liveliness that sets it apart from traditional dance forms. Like jazz music, jazz dance features improvisation. It focuses on grounded movement with an emphasis on lines and isolation in the body.
Hip Hop
Hip hop dance is a style of street dance that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music. Hip hop dance began as a freestyle dance performed in the streets by dance crews, mostly to hip hop music. Today, hip hop dance may involve choreography, along with various points of improvisation, especially during dance battles or freestyle competitions.
